On February 4th, Alaskan Dream Cruises made the difficult announcement that they are permanently ceasing all operations, leading to the cancellation of all future planned voyages.
For over a decade and a half, since 2011, Alaskan Dream Cruises has been a beacon, offering its guests unparalleled access to the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska and a deep dive into the rich tapestry of Alaska Native heritage. In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the company expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to connect with guests from around the world, as well as the privilege of collaborating with amazing communities, partners, and their dedicated crew. "It has been an equal honor to work alongside extraordinary communities, partners, and crew," they conveyed, highlighting the deep bonds formed.
The statement continued with a clear declaration: "Effective immediately, Alaskan Dream Cruises has ceased business operations and will no longer be operating future sailings." They further emphasized their deep appreciation for the trust placed in them over the years, celebrating the lasting relationships and the countless Alaskan stories they helped create.
Interestingly, at the time of this announcement, Alaskan Dream Cruises had no active trips underway. This is largely because their operational season typically runs from May through September, coinciding with Alaska’s prime cruise season. This small-ship cruise line, previously known for its intimate 5- to 10-night sailings through Southeast Alaska, assured guests with existing bookings that they would be receiving refunds and detailed information regarding next steps via email.
In an effort to support their former passengers, Alaskan Dream Cruises also mentioned they were working with UnCruise Adventures to assist travelers in finding alternative booking options.
But here's where it gets interesting: While Alaskan Dream Cruises itself will no longer be sailing, its parent company, Allen Marine Tours, is set to continue offering excursions. These will still focus on showcasing the unparalleled natural beauty and vibrant cultural heritage of Alaska.
Jamey Cagle, one of the owners of Alaskan Dream Cruises, described the decision to close as "essential and necessary." He explained, "After careful evaluation of our long-term objectives, we determined that concluding cruise operations allows us to responsibly focus our resources where they will have the greatest impact."
